shining a light on inspired learning.

Ethos

At the Luminary we believe that every child is a light full of potential and that education should ignite curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Inspired by the meaning of “Luminary” our mission is to be a guiding light for young minds—illuminating the path to knowledge, creativity, and personal growth.

Our learning hub is designed around fun, immersive, and diverse themed learning months, blending elements of Charlotte Mason, Montessori, and Unit Studies to create a rich, hands-on educational experience. Each month, we explore a new big idea, diving deep into science, history, creativity, entrepreneurship, or the natural world. From Space Exploration to Young Entrepreneurs, from Homesteading & Survival Skills to The Art of Storytelling.

Our Lumineer Guides play a key role in designing thoughtful, engaging activities that complement our home educating methods. They carefully craft each day's experiences to align with the themes and methods we follow, ensuring that each activity supports hands-on learning, critical thinking, and creative exploration.

To make each theme truly come alive, we invite guest professionals who bring real-world expertise and excitement to our learners. Whether it’s a local farmer teaching sustainable living, an author leading a creative writing workshop, a historian bringing history to life, or a dancer leading a movement workshop our learners will gain knowledge and inspiration directly from those who live and breathe these subjects.

At Luminary, education isn’t confined to textbooks. It’s interactive, experience-driven, and deeply connected to the world. We foster hands-on exploration, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity—empowering children to become innovators, thinkers, and lifelong learners who shine brightly in whatever path they choose.

meet the team

Hello from Jenny & Lucy
We are the co-founders of Luminary and also the Lumineer Guides here at the hub. As home educating mothers ourselves, we understand deeply the unique joys and challenges that come with learning outside the traditional classroom.

We're both passionate and excited about creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring space where children can truly thrive. With a shared love for child-led discovery and hands-on learning, we bring warmth, creativity, and dedication to everything we do at the Luminary.

Our mission is to support home educating families by building a community where curiosity is celebrated, individuality is honoured, and every child feels truly seen.

Meet Jenny – Co-Founder & Lumineer Guide Hi! I’m Jenny , I’m a proud mother of four and a passionate advocate for children’s well-being, both mentally and emotionally. My journey as a home educator has inspired me to create a nurturing space where children not only learn but truly thrive. I believe that every child deserves a safe and inclusive environment, where they can grow at their own pace, explore their unique strengths, and develop a love for learning.

With extensive experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN), I am excited to offer a space that fosters creativity, resilience, and a strong sense of self. My goal is to empower each child to reach their full potential.

I understand that the journey through mainstream school doesn’t suit every child and I know firsthand the challenges traditional schooling can bring. Since home educating my children have undergone incredible transformations, both mentally and emotionally. This is where my passion for Luminary Learning began. I look forward to supporting your child’s growth in every way possible.

Meet Lucy – Co-Founder & Lumineer Guide Hey, I’m Lucy – one half of the founding team behind Luminary. I’m a home educating mum to my bright, confident and kind 6-year-old daughter, and we’ve been on our home-ed journey together for the past two years which has been truly wonderful.

Before stepping into the world of home education, I spent several years as a nanny for a number of wonderful families, which gave me invaluable insight into the early years and a deep appreciation for the unique personality each child brings.

In a previous chapter of life, I was a professional pop singer – the stage, music, and creativity have always been a huge part of who I am. I still find so much joy in singing, the arts, and anything that allows self-expression and imagination to shine.

I am so excited to create a space where children feel safe to explore, express, and be completely themselves. I believe learning should be joyful, messy, musical, and full of wonder – and I’m so honoured to be part of a hub that can bring all of these things to life
